Abstract

Integration of telemedicine into remote and extreme environments offers unique tools and services to those segments of the population. The examples cited here, are just a small sampling of the growing body of work being done around the world. They illustrate the diversity of application. Telemedicine has been validated in these environs and it has been an effective tool in the delivery of healthcare and medical education. Better management of medical issues can be achieved through a range of telecommunications capabilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
