OFDM systems suffer significant performance degradation due to Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) and Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO). The CFO and ICI must be compensated to improve system performance. In this paper, closed form expressions for (a) the power of the Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) and (b) the mean and variance of the recovered signal under various fading conditions are derived and plotted. Closed form expressions for power of ICI in slowly fading channels are derived and tabulated. Numerical results are presented for Weibull, Nakagami, and Rayleigh fading conditions. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
