Abstract

The fossil record of birds from Argentina is the most complete and diverse among South America, thus it becomes in a reference to understand the evolution and paleogeography of the group in the continent. In this contribution a short overview of the evolutionary history of birds is carried out. Main evolutionary and palaeobiogeographical patterns are also reviewed.
