Abstract

The USN made by integrating a NAS and a SAN has the advantages of NAS and SAN, but its security has become more complicated. To solve this problem, this paper presents the MUVFS, which offers a storage volume view for each authorized user, who can only access the data in his own storage volume. And it introduces a security scheme, with which all users can encrypt and decrypt the data of the themselves storage volume at clients, and the USN server only need to check the users' identities and the data's integrality. As shown in the experiments, the security of the USN has been improved greatly with little influence on the system performance. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
