Abstract

The bcc martensite obtained by subzero cooling was found to have a superlattice which was expected to be formed by the Bain distortion from the Cu//3Au-type superface of U phase. The habit plane of martensite plates and the orientation relationship between martensite and austenite were consistent with those determined by Efsic and Wayman. Observing the domain structures in ordered U phase, it is clarified that the temperature dropped rapidly according as the size of domains increased.
