Abstract

Epilepsy surgery is primarily utilized for patients with medically intractable focal seizures. After localization, the aim is to block the seizurogenic effect of the focus. In this selective overview, the role and outcomes of resective or lesional surgery, disconnection of the focus, or neuromodulation of the seizure process are reviewed, as a corollary for considerations of using Gamma Knife radiosurgery for seizure control (see prior chapter).
