We have found in the section Escribanía Mayor de Rentas of the Archivo General de Simancas (Valladolid) the annual distribution lists made by the Jewish gatherings and jewries of Castile in 1484, 1485, 1490 and 1491. The texts provide information on the amount they had to pay for the specific tax of the ethnic and religious minorities called «servicio y medio servicio», and thus shed new, important light on Jewish life in medieval Spain. © CSIC.
