Herpetofauna surveys were carried out in the primary and regenerating forests at Pasoh Forest Reserve (Pasoh FR) during short periods for each of 1968, 1974, 1987 and 1991. The historical data revealed a total of 75 herpetofauna comprising 26 species of amphibians, 24 species of tortoises, turtIes and lizards and 25 species of snakes. Among the 75 species, 62 species were found in primary forest while 54 species from regenerating forest. There was a slight shift in the distribution and composition pattern of this taxon over time between the two forest types. Potential indicator species to environmental changes was established.
