Focusing on the experiences of municipal archaeological master planning in Kingston, Ontario, this chapter explores how the municipality sought to meet provincial requirements through two Master planning processes. Positioned within a broader literature on planning and archaeology, this chapter considers several community-focused and creative planning solutions undertaken in Kingston that sought not just to regulate but also to provide the opportunity for community education. It also outlines key lessons from the project.
