The wear characteristics of indexable inserts made of sintered HSS, which are becoming increasingly important in cutting technology, are discussed. Machining trials with HSS indexable inserts showed that vacuum sintered high speed steels performed as well as conventional HSS steels with the same chemical composition. Tables show the comparative costs as well as technical performance data.
