Abstract

It has been demonstrated, without doubt, that the clinical use of umbilical artery flow velocity waveforms reduces perinatal deaths and unnecessary admission to hospital or induction of labor for suspected placental insufficiency. It can also be used in primary health care settings to differentiate between a normal fetus with poor growth and placental insufficiency. © 2005 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
