Abstract

This chapter of a book examines the area of coated and laminated fabrics, and provides a brief history and general usage review. The textile substrates to be coated and some coating techniques are described. The chemistry of coating polymers, natural and synthetic rubbers and coating polymers and elastomers is presented and the liquid proof/vapour permeable coating of fabrics is also described. Some test methods and end-use applications for coated and laminated fabrics are described.
