Abstract

This chapter aims to (1) understand how the vertebral endplate signal changes on magnetic resonance imaging – named Modic changes – especially the inflammatory type 1 may reflect reflect disturbances in the dynamics of the unit intervertebral disk-cartilaginous endplate-bone marrow and (2) to analyze correlations between low back pain and Modic Changes.
