Abstract

This chapter concludes this study by linking wartime care work to peacebuilding. First, it summarizes the role of women as caregivers during and in the aftermath of conflict; how women as caregivers contribute to the survival and well-being of their family and community. It presents the lessons this case study makes to international, regional, and state institutions that are involved in peacebuilding and post-conflict reconstruction processes. It also presents recommendations for further studies on care work and peacebuilding in conflict zones in Africa and the world alike. Last, it discusses the adoption of policies for gender equality when national policies are being adopted.
