Abstract

Classification as a human activity in general becomes a scientific activity in librarianship. There are famous examples of this history of classification among them the schemes of Conrad Gesner (1548) and the Princeton University Library (1901). In present time we find a number of new tasks and obligations in this field. © Springer-Verlag Berlin, Heidelberg 2005.
