Abstract

The development of unmanned aerial vehicles was improved applying of aerial photogrammetry in the process of collecting geospatial data. Photogrammetry has been defined by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) as the art, science, and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and the environment through processes of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of recorded radiant electromagnetic energy and other phenomena. The primary purpose of unmanned aerial vehicles was for military use. The unmanned aerial vehicles are made from different materials and they have to be of very good quality. Some parts and construction are entrusted to the mechanical engineers. Electronic parts of the unmanned aerial vehicles are entrusted to the electrical engineers. In the field of aerial photogrammetry, geodesy is ‘‘involved’’ through the implementation of the aerial photogrammetric system and GNSS technology. Practical procedures of aerial photogrammetric geodetic survey, with analysis of the obtained results are shown in this paper. Area of analysis results of aerial photogrammetric geodetic survey is area around the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Architecture (University of Sarajevo). This research examines the possibility of using unmanned aerial vehicles for the purpose of surveying the medium size area of complex urban surface.
