Kenji Takagi and Masaki Watanabe’s early development of arthroscopy led to the production of the “needle scope,” which was ideal for the wrist. In the 1980s, North American surgeons Terry Whipple, Gary Poehling, and James Roth developed a safe and reproducible technique. Following this, many different surgeons contributed to the development of a better anatomical understanding and advancement of therapeutic arthroscopy.
