Abstract

The exceptional circumstances we are going through, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, request a reflection on the need for new methods and tools for sustainable urban development implementation. Culture is one of the critical components to promote new approaches for a more sustainable circular city, able to activate and support innovative processes for urban regeneration. The knowledge framework can be effectively considered in terms of Ecosystem Services, with specific attention to Cultural Ecosystem Services through their tangible and intangible dimensions, able to describe the cultural resources and their valorization potentials. The case study of the city of Naples (Italy) represents the opportunity to test the proposed classification of Cultural Ecosystem Services to effectively identify and and spatially representing enabling cultural contexts and provide an innovative methodological process to support decision-makers, able to identify enabling development policies and strategies for urban cultural regeneration.
