Abstract

Since the Oligocene, the Hunsruck was uplifted approx 200-250 m, in relation to the Rheinhessen plateau (Mayence basin) and tilted southwards by up to 50 m. The plateau uplift includes parts of the Saar-Nahe basin; the Quaternary partial uplift does not exceed 40- 50 m.-J.M.H.Kirchstrasse 16, D-5501 Thomm, West Germany.
