Abstract

In the last decade, the annual number of circumcisions performed in England, under the auspices of the National Health Services (NHS), has changed little. The current cost of a circumcision, performed on a day-case basis, is £500. Government figures indicate that 30,591 circumcisions were performed in 1996—a cost to the NHS of at least £15.3 million.
