Abstract

Conical intersections of potential-energy surfaces have emerged as a central mechanistic concept in photochemistry. This paper discusses characteristic features of the ultrafast non-Born-Oppenheimer dynamics mediated by conical intersections as well as the real-time detection of these processes.
