Abstract

The commonly accepted principle of a sustainable development reinforces the global-local dyad at the various stages of the developing process of the territory organization in its different forms. The establishment of protected natural areas which ca be considered as a sort of environmental welfare in Italy and mainly Abruzzo, is the best example of a global fruition of environmental resources. The case of Sirente-Velino Natural Park has been analysed its physical and human peculiarities and it can be considered as an example of global planning founded on consensus and on the widest popular willingness I receptiveness / involvement. The inherent challenge is to accept/promote the environmental enhancement as a unique in the territory making, bound to return the cultural identity and to express the peculiarity and quality of the place.
