Abstract

Tb 3+ doped nano-sized Y 2 O 3 phosphor was prepared by a solution combustion method in the presence of urea as a fuel. The phosphor was characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), the results of the XRD shows that the phosphor has a monoclinic phase. Particle size was calculated by the Debye-Scherrer formula. The average particle size was calculated as 8 nm for the freshly prepared sample. The photoluminescence behaviour of the prepared phosphor was determined by recording the emission spectra of the prepared phosphor under 275 nm excitation. The prepared phosphor gives emissions peaks at green and red region. The intensity of the green emission is the strongest.
