The augmented reality technology, in which virtual images are combined with real world objects in real time, has begun to take part in the education of "Generation Z", 21 st century youth. Today, augmented reality applications that contribute to the learning process are also utilized in the field of nursing education. When database research is conducted with the combinations of "nursing education" and "augmented reality" keywords, it is seen that various augmented reality applications are used for improving English proficiency, anatomy knowledge and some of the nursing practices of nursing students. Research results show that students' learning experiences are improved with the use of augmented reality method thus learning becomes interesting and useful. This review includes the definition of augmented reality technology which increases the reality of environment and improves learning by embodying abstract concepts, its importance and place in nursing education, and the results of various studies on this subject.
