This article results from a study that investigated how a team of family health professionals in Parnaíba-PI positions themselves regarding the male public health care. The study was qualitative in nature and operationalized through participant observations in a basic health unit in Parnaíba-PI and semi-structured interviews with a team of family health employees in that unit. The data were subjected to thematic content analysis and results indicate that professionals are surrounded by meanings that conceive men on that territory from a vision of hegemonic masculinity, which then reverberates in the everyday practices. In addition, there are weaknesses regarding knowledge and realization of PNAISH. As for the men-work relationship, many were the discourses blaming men for the fragile links with ESF. However, movements of staff's appreciation were identified.
