Photobacterium damselae subspecies damselae and piscicida have been associated with ulcerative lesions and pasteurellosis/pseudotuberculosis in marine fi sh, respectively. Diagnosis has been achieved by phenotyping, serology and by use of molecular methods. Pathogenicity mechanisms include the presence of extracel- lular products.
