Abstract

Elderly patient with pulmonary restriction due to fibrosis and cardiogenic alveolar edema presenting significant muscular fatigue. If treatment is not started early, muscle fatigue will cause metabolic disorders that in turn will perpetuate muscle work and respiratory failure. The early indication of treatment with NIMV (non-invasive mechanical ventilation) relieves muscle fatigue and prevents complications.
