Abstract

We present a method for fast volume rendering using GPGPU for Cloud 3D Visualization. Each of the threads is processed in parallel on the GPU. Our algorithm is to use the computational power of graphics processors to speed up the rendering process of the Shear-Warp algorithm. Our GPU-based method provides real-time frame rates and outperforms the GPU-based implementation. Our experimental results show that our algorithm is much faster than the CPU-based Shear-Warp volume visualization in terms of rendering speed and image quality. It can be launched on GPU computing clusters provided by cloud infrastructures such as Amazon EC2. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
