Abstract

Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) introduce a unique software architecture style. MAS developed to date have several common architectural characteristics, even though differences in their design and implementation result in variations in their strengths and weaknesses. In this paper we study software-architectural properties of MAS to support the assessment of their suitability to the solution of computational problems. We present three MAS case-studies to demonstrate architectural properties and their effect on system functionality. © 2001 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
