Abstract
This article mentions the theme of citizenship and children's rights in the same context. Taking as ground the interpretation of the participation rights established on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizing them as a full human being with the capacity of exercise judgment. As our starting-point we analyze concepts such as democracy, citizenship and political rights. Also it addresses the considerations against and in favor about recognizing the child as citizen with political participation rights, in a progressive way depending on their cognition development. Up to consider the child as citizen subject of political participation rights on a progressive way based on their cognitive development. Finally, we brought an approach to exercise these political rights within the public life of the Mexican State. © 2012. UNAM, Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas.
