Abstract

We review the recent progress in studies of the thermal conductivity in quasi one-dimensional spin systems. After a brief outline of the existing theoretical understanding of the energy transport in one-dimensional spin systems, we present and discuss recently obtained experimental results on materials of this type. These include compounds containing Heisenberg antiferromagnetic S = 1/2 spin chains and spin ladders, spin-Peierls compounds, as well as spin chain materials where the itinerant magnetic excitations may be regarded as solitons. Keywords: Energy transport, thermal conductivity, spin chains
