Abstract

Mass spectrometric cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (MS-CAPS) is a method for detecting genes using a combination of short PCR and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-fl ight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). MS-CAPS can identify a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in less than one hour and is suitable for plants, animals, bacteria, and food.
