Abstract

We now want to begin to develop a holistic view of cartilage as a tissue that has an integrated set of homeostatic processes for maintaining itself. In the context of other tissues in the body, such a proposal is hardly controversial, for it is well known that there are myriad of homeostatic processes maintaining our bodies throughout all our tissues, which despite outward appearances of being unchanging are in a continual state of flux.
