The article focuses on the need for higher education institutions across the world that are offering free online courses known as massive open online courses (MOOCs) to ensure that the courses can also be accessed by people with disabilities. Topics discussed include the hearing impaired people's reliance on captioning when watching educational videos and the tendency of the MOOC courses to violate the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990.
