Abstract

Trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT) is one of the first choice treatments for PTSD. TF-CBT comprises several evidence-based treatment manuals, which are first briefly outlined in this chapter. After an introduction to the theoretical principles of TF-CBT, the main part of the chapter then presents important treatment components in more detail, in particular interventions to modify trauma memory (imaginal exposure; updating trauma memory), cognitive interventions and techniques to modify dysfunctional coping strategies.
