Abstract

The difference between polymeric systems and small molecule mixtures appears mainly in miscibility behaviour. Polymer solutions, polymer blends and copolymer mixtures are considered on the basis of the still useful classic lattice model. Phase behaviour is sensitively governed by variations in chain length (distribution). Pressure and flow are important variables in polymer production and processing. The influence of pressure is treated on the basis of classical thermodynamic relations. © 1989, IEEE. All rights reserved.
