Abstract

Beyond the attempts at definition objectifies of which it is often the subject and of the conflicts generated around its multiple interpretations, the concept of competence appears interesting to analyze in so far as it returns to singular social representations. Source of multiple combinations, competence lends itself to various revealing social uses of the strategies and the beliefs of the actors who employ it. The relational provisions gradually take the step on the traditional school qualifications. Because it corresponds to a space in which sporting competences are developed, the sector of the sale of article of sport seems to be a ground of particularly fertile study. On the basis of the analysis of the speech and job offers held by the principal actors commercial of the sport in Alsace, our article initially proposes to show how competences can function like a "capital", then to seize the representations of the persons in charge and paid in connection with the legitimate jurisdiction awaited for the salesmen for articles for sport. Beyond these common beliefs, the interest of this study is to show that the recruiters and the directors of store differently perceive competences according to the size of the store, the market products and their singular, as well professional history as sporting.
