In this paper I share a view of the promise of technology in the service of the aging veteran which, although it may be parochial, has had the virtue of some testing and some actual deployment. I will further discuss a basic division of effort in technology in the service of the aging into two major components: health care technology and quality of life technology. It is important to recognize this distinction because the two different subgroups of technology tend to develop in isolated fashion when interchange between them might be mutually beneficial.
