Abstract

The present study proposed a procedure to minimize unbalance in machine loading of flexible manufacturing system by application of a genetic algorithm. Machine loading problem includes various types of flexibility aspects related to part selection. The major problem of machine loading is its complexity and so to reduce complexity, an approach is to be followed. Favorable results are seen when the mathematical problem is solved using the genetic algorithm and compared to previous results.
