The European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) is a federation of computing resource providers set up to support collaborative and innovative research projects from all fields of science. Building on a decade of experience in managing distributed computing resources, EGI is a valuable asset for modern science. Expanding the user base, in both absolute numbers and diversity is a key priority for the sustainable future of the e-Infrastructure. EGI is therefore keen to engage with scientists working in the Humanities disciplines, which are currently under-represented in the EGI ecosystem. This paper introduces EGI, its mission and strategy and explores possible avenues of collaboration with the Humanities scientific community. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
