Abstract

Droplet-based microfluidic devices are used in widespread applications of the biomedical industry. In this research, a novel droplet generator was designed, analysed and fabricated in order to observe the behaviour of droplets under various flow parameters. The proposed design was numerically analyzed to obtain the correlation between two fluids and then the designed droplet generator was fabricated in order to experimentally validate the numerical analysis. In the fabrication of the droplet generator Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) sheets were used due to its biocompatibility. Image processing was used in validating the numerical analysis by measuring the diameter of generated droplets.
