Abstract

The signaling cascade of most adhesion-GPCRs remains uncharacterized, as the majority are still orphan receptors and further complicated by their unique structure containing a cleaved long extracellular domain (ECD) and a seven-transmembrane domain (7TM). In this chapter, we review previous reports which suggest G protein-dependent and -independent signaling pathways of adhesion-GPCRs and present our approach to investigate the signal transduction of the adhesion-GPCR, GPR56. © 2010 Landes Bioscience and Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
