Crohn disease is a chronic idiopathic infl ammatory condition that affects the mucosa from mouth to anus. The presenting signs and symptoms can mimic a variety of other conditions and a thorough work up, including complete history and physical examination, blood tests, pertinent radiology, and endoscopy with biopsies, needs to be performed to make the diagnosis. Treatment is based on disease location, type (infl ammatory or fi stulizing), and severity. Most therapies are aimed at controlling infl ammation with the intent to prevent complications.
