Abstract

In the recent two decades the question of parking in Bratislava became one of the most serious and discussed topics in the town development planning. The authors are focusing on the identification of the chosen factors which negatively influence static transport and distinctively worsen mobility in the capital city Bratislava, which belongs to the most densely populated agglomeration in the Slovak Republic. It is mainly the realization of big development projects which cause growing thickening of the town, enormous increase in the migration flow to Bratislava, as well as absence of unified parking policy. This chapter aims to assess the parking policy in the biggest Slovak town Bratislava in the context of economic growth and development of car transport in Slovakia. They also suggest the problem solutions for static transport in Bratislava in the specification of potentially suitable areas for the park-and-ride system.
