Abstract

At present, with the rapid increasing of oil spills at sea, it will be helpful to effectively deal with the oil pollution by establishing a scientific evaluation mechanism for the oil spill damage. In the paper, we apply the D-S Evidence Theory to evaluate the degree of seawater pollution in oil spill, then resolve the evaluation problem due to various attributes and uncertainty of data which result in the difficulty to analyze the indicators comprehensively and quantitatively, and make the final decision. In addition, according to the average support of each proposition, we allocate the probability of the D-S Evidence conflict which not only has reasonable physical meaning, but also effectively compensate the disadvantage of D-S Evidence combination formula to improve the reliability and rationality of the combining result. At last, we use the case results to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of our proposed method. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
