Abstract

The efficient C-H borylation of a variety of aromatic hydrocarbons and heteroarenes has been achieved using an iron complex bearing a quinoline-based PNN pincer ligand. Mechanistic studies revealed the formation of a bis-boryl complex, which plays a crucial role in the catalytic cycle. The methodology allows the borylation of unactivated arenes using iron catalysts.
