Abstract

With the increasing numbers of lumbar disc surgeries, the quantity of revision cases is increasing as well. Especially recurrent disc herniations or discogenic restenosis of the spinal canal generate challenges in spinal microsurgery. Primary lumbar discectomy or fragmentectomy is performed with minimally invasive surgical techniques. Microsurgical or endoscopic removal of lumbar disc herniations have become international standards.
