Abstract

Fiber reinforcement is undoubtedly one of the most effective means o en ng e mpac an as res s concre e. nfortunately, the dynamic properties of fiber reinforced concrete also there has been an in- remain some of its least understood. Since 9/11, creased interest in developing a better understanding of the properties of fiber reinforced concrete under impact and blast loading and enhancing such resistance. This paper provides a historical perspective -npact resistance of fiber of our efforts aimed at understanding the ii reinforced concrete and highlights some of the issues and challenges encountered. A synopsis of our current state of the art with respect to e xperimental and modeling attempts is presented. Fina y, the paper attempts to chart our future course and identify areas where further rese e. arch will be highly valuable.
