Abstract

Thai sentences consist of many words that are written consecutively with complicated rules that make word segmentation to be an arduous task. Thai word segmentation has been researched since the 1980s. Beginning with defining the scope of syllables, then developing techniques and algorithms to word segmentation using various methods that divided into three types which are Rules-based technique, Dictionary-based technique, and Learning-based technique. Details of these algorithms will be presented in the following sections.
