Abstract

In 2008, in Mexico was implanted the Integral Reform of the High Level Education (Reforma Integral de la Educación Media Superior-RIEMS). In this article, we use as methodological strategy one case study to analyse, within the framework of this reform, the behavior of the school experience of the cohort 2008-2011 from a technical high school in the State of Morelos, and show an approach to the expectations of young students from the high school graduation. This from the satisfaction with their training and the meaning conferred upon them to study. In the analysis of the school passage of the young people from the cohort before mentioned, the first cohort formed under the educational model of this reform, we find that the results in educational indicators are practically the same that were observed prior to implantation of the RIEMS. On the other hand, we may report that young people recognize and appreciate the propaedeutic nature of their studies to achieve social and economic mobility. This job retrieves the perceptions among students with the best averages in the school and those young people who are at risk of leaving school by the quantity of fail subjects in one semester.
